Did you know that selecting the right office chair can provide higher levels of productivity due to increased comfort and lower instances of back, neck and shoulder pain.
It is not uncommon to find yourself spending long periods of time at your office desk so it’s vital to choose the best ergonomic office chair.
Look out for these key features when investing in a new office chair for your home office or workplace.
Ergonomic Features
For optimum comfort it pays to look for an ergonomic office chair. Ergonomic office chairs offer the ability to adjust the backrests, armrests, neck rests and seat height. The ergonomic adjustment features mean that you can sit comfortably with correct posture for longer periods of time.
Lumbar Support
The best office chairs for reducing back pain are chairs with good lumbar support that stop you from slouching or leaning forward throughout the day. When sitting up straight against the seatback the curve of the ergonomic chair should follow the natural contour of your spine, providing good lower back and lumbar support.
Breathable Material & Sufficient Padding
The most popular material options for office chairs are mesh and leather. A mesh fabric provides ventilation and comfort while working, especially working in warm weather conditions. Leather office chairs provide an impression of elegance while being comfortable and highly durable.
Adjustable Armrests
Ideally an office chair with adjustable arm rests will allow you to sit in a position that lets your arms rest comfortably, reducing strain in your neck and shoulders.
Seat width and depth
The ideal seat width will allow you to sit with your back against the backrest and have 2-4 inches between the chair seat and your knees. If you are taller you may need to look for an office chair with a deeper seat to sit comfortably.
Easy Movement
Being able to easily move around with your office chair is important. Ideally the office chair swivel will allow you to easily reach different areas of your desk without strain. It is also nice to be able to move your office chair across the floor easily. If this is not possible, sometimes a chair mat may help.
